Beggars Prayer
I have nothing for the "King",
but I've come boldly to your throne.
I've come to beg for just some crumbs,
I'm starving and alone.
I once was full, I was content, I had no need to beg.
But some thief came in and stole my goods,
now I'm empty and afraid.
O' King I'll die if you don't give,
I'll be satisfied with crumbs!
I've not always been a beggar,
I once was really proud.
I had all I needed,
never thought I'd be bought down.
If you have some work to do,
I'll serve the best I can.
I'll do anything with gratefulness;
I'll work within your plans.
My skills, I find I have none,
But I have a willing heart.
So if you have some work to do,
today is when I'll start!
The King reached out his hands
and gently helped me to my feet.
"You are a desperate women,
alone with many needs.
I am the "King", I own the world,
I have full authority.
You were wise to come to me,
to know I'd hear your pleas.
There is some work I have for you,
but first you must get dressed.
For those who work for me,
I clothe them in the best.
Take off those beggar clothes
and put on the royal robe.
My Son will put it on you,
My Son, the one you know!"
