This morning I was cleaning out some drawers and came upon one of my husbands much used Bibles. I just opened it and my eye fell upon a passage he had marked, specifically Zech. 2:7. I read the entire chapter, and it was so awesome that I did a little word study on it. How amazing is it, that words recorded so many centuries ago, are still finding fulfillment in this day in which we are living?!!
Zechariah 2:5-13 [Aramaic].
“For I will be in the midst of her, says the Lord, as a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her” For I, the Lord, will emphatically become a wall of protection burning on every side about you, and will BE the splendor in the center of you.
“Ah! Ah! Flee from the land of the north, says the Lord; for I have scattered you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, says the Lord.” Come forth from the dark, gloomy wilderness of the world, saith the eternal Hashem; for I have dispersed you as the four winds of heaven!
“Deliver yourself, O Zion; deliver yourself, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon” Escape speedily, O conspicuous one fora sign, who remain in relationship with Confusion.
“For thus says the Lord of hosts: After the glory he has sent me against the nations who plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye.” For now saith Hashem to His army, with the weighty splendor appointed me toward the people that made prey of you, inasmuch as he that lays a hand on you, lays their hand on what I have hollowed out to please ME.
“For, behold, I will stretch out my hand against them, and their works shall become plunder; and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.” Assuredly, see! I will lift up my power against them, and they shall become a plunder to those that they enslaved; and you will observe and recognize that Jehovah has sent me.
“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for, Lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the Lord.” Shout for joy and be glad, O company of conspicuous ones, assuredly, see, I come, and I will permanently reside in your center, saith the self-existent, eternal Jehovah!
“And many nations shall follow the Lord in that day, and shall be his people; and he shall dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.” Abundant masses of people will be united and cleave to the LORD in that day, and shall become HIS people, and HE shall lodge within their center, and you will ascertain by seeing that the Lord of His army has reached forth among you.
“And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in his holy land, and shall be pleased with Jerusalem again.” And Hashem will personally occupy and use HIS part in the sacred ground, and shall require Jerusalem within still more.
“And all flesh shall be afraid of the Lord; for he is watchful from his high and holy habitation.”
Hush, every person before the face of the Lord, assuredly he is lifted up out of His hallowed abode.
There is so much that we ‘see’ now, that we did not see before. For me, the more I see, the more I realize how much I don’t know. At one time I wanted to ‘know’ things; now I want to KNOW HIM. All of this is His business, not mine. He doesn’t require my assistance, He requires my obedience. With all we see, it is still so in-part. Yet in our spirit we know that He is rising up in His Temple, and the gulf between our spiritual reality and our physical is growing wider and wider, till much of the time it seems like we are just occupying these bodies, but they cannot contain us, because we are daily being conformed to Him, even in the daily chores that we perform. We are HIS sacred ground. You can do your own word study, but I found Zion to mean conspicuous ones, which really blessed me. If Christ be in us, we will be conspicuous. Not appreciated, but conspicuous nonetheless. Another portion that I found significant was the apple of His eye… hollowed out, emptied of self that He might fill us all in all… pretty awesome that is. Just some thoughts this morning.
